This is my first year at Chets Creek and I am very excited to be here. I have been a teacher for the past 5 years at Lake Lucina Elementary. So far, I have taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades and had the amazing experience of "looping" up with a third grade class. This year I will be teaching 4th grade ELA. I absolutely love being a teacher and thoroughly enjoy learning all I can to improve my craft. When I am not teaching I enjoy reading lots and lots of books, spending time with my family and friends, and watching my favorite T.V. show...American Idol! I consider myself a Jacksonville native, having lived here since I was in the 2nd grade. I am very close with my parents who live here as well. My younger sister lives in Tampa where she works for an advertising agency. I graduated from Bishop Kenny High School before going on to college at the University of North Florida. I graduated with a degree in psychology, but it didn't take me very long to realize that my real niche is education. I had already begun my teacher certification process before graduating from college. But my time spent studying psychology has not been wasted. I have found that my background in psychology gives me a unique outlook on creating a supportive classroom community. Since I
have been teaching I have had many experiences that have allowed me to
grow and learn. I have attended many workshops and conferences including
the Georgia Conference of Reading and Writing (3 years in a row). It was
there I really found my love of literature and passion for teaching
students to read and write. I am constantly researching and looking for
new and innovative ways to engage students in literature. My newest
passion is the integration of technology, which fits perfectly with our
2008-2009 theme. I can't wait to travel "Around the World in 180 days"
with my new group! blog: http://cce4thgrade.blogspot.com 992-6390 ext. 168
