Well hello ya'll! My name is Randi Timmons and I am a First Grade teacher
at Chets Creek Elementary. This is my sixth year teaching at the greatest
school on Earth and I am ecstatic to be back in First Grade. My teaching
journey began long ago in Charlotte, North Carolina (my home sweet
hometown). As a teenager I volunteered at The METRO School in Charlotte,
which is a self contained Special Education school. It was there
that "the seed" of teaching was planted in my heart. A few
years following, I was excepted and enrolled at a most beautiful and
excellent college way up in the mountains of Boone, North Carolina. I
majored and graduated with a degree in Special Education and a minor in
Child Psychology from Appalachian State University. During my years as a
ASU Mountaineer I met my dream man and we married our senior year. I
know, so young but so meant to be. Not to mention this was the only way
he was going to talk my daddy into me moving to Florida. Much to my
families demise he swept me away to Jacksonville 2 months after marrying
me and 14 days after graduation.
I began my career as the primary self-contained Special Education teacher
here at Chets (grades 1st-3rd). After two years of teaching this class,
Florida Inclusion Network approached Chets Creek to inquire about our
interest in piloting a full inclusion program (ALL children are included
in the general education classroom, no separations) here at Chets. Our Special
Education team was enthusiastic and optimistic about this new chapter and
ready to begin.
The year we transitioned from a self contained model to a full inclusion
model my husband and I were expecting our first child. Our sweet and most
lovely daughter was born in April of 2006 and has been an unimaginable
addition to our entire family. Our second child is due to arrive in early
March of 2009. Our 2 year old is VERY excited about the prospect of a new
baby brother or sister. She is adamantly requesting a baby brother and
her daddy and I have told her we will "due" what we can...
This year I am teaching with the crazy lady in the pink dress, front row,
missing teeth (just kidding she has a raisin on her tooth) that you will
find in the First Grade picture of our CCE homepage. The lovely and most
talented Cathy Daniels and I are co-teaching one of the First Grade
inclusion classrooms. Oh, I received my General Education Certification
in 2006 and now I teach as the general education teacher in an inclusion
classroom. The Special Education teacher that services our classroom
is the world re-nound Mrs. dayle timmons (a.k.a. day-day to her
grandchildren). Oh, one more surprise she's my mother-in-law, talk about
a blessing!!! We are all looking forward to a fabulous year filled with
love, laughter and learning.
Come by and see us anytime we always welcome visitors!
