"It is the mission of Duval County school counselors to deliver a multilayered, comprehensive and accountable guidance program in which equity, access, and academic success for ALL students is the focus." My name is Betsy McCall and I am delighted to serve as your school counselor at Chets Creek. I have been here since the school opened and I am honored to work at this "A+" school. School counselors have national standards that include academic development, career development, and personal/social development. It is my role to implement these standards so that all children will be successful in school and in life. I have help from two extraordinary teachers to reach these goals. Liz Duncan assists with the personal and social development of students by working with small groups on social skills. Nikki Hall implements the Duval County character education program. She kicks off her resource classes with the September traits of cooperation and citizenship. The curriculum continues with such other important topics as fairness, kindness, respect, honesty and self-control. She will also teach a career awareness unit with the 5th graders this spring. Tracy Carlin is the guidance clerk and she makes sure the guidance office runs smoothly. Her phone number is 992-6390 ext. 120. It is important for parents to be involved in their children's education. Staying informed by reading the Chets Creek Connection and classroom newsletters is a great place to start. If questions arise, a teacher conference can always be scheduled. It's as simple as a phone call, note in the planner, or email to the teacher. If I can be of assistance, please call me at 992-6390 ext. 107 or email me at mccalle@duvalschools.org |
