Programs at Cedar Hills Full Services Program - A complement of services afforded students and their families both in school and at home, including a $4400 grant to fund after school tutorial support for students deficient in core content areas. Headstart - Two classes provide readiness skills students need for transition to kindergarten. Extended Day - A before and/or after school care program for working parents. The program provides care one hour before school and three hours after school. That extended time is used to provide homework support, tutorial opportunities, and positive social interactions with peers. For more information, check the link on the school information page. Parent Resource Room - A resource room with scheduled hours of operation that provides parents with information, opportunities for collaboration with each other, staff and community members, volunteer opportunities, mini workshops, and a volunteer coordinator. Click here for schedule. Communities in Schools - This program funds three full time volunteers through AmeriCorps. The volunteers work with at risk students in kindergarten, first, second, and third grade. The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Literacy (DIBEL) is used to measure reading achievement resulting from tutorial support. Vista - Through VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America), a community/volunteer liaison is staffed on site three days weekly to provide leadership for community school partnerships. Pre-Kindergarten - Two classes for developmentally delayed classes support the educational and social development of students with special needs. Cathedral Arts - An after school endowed art program staffed by one teacher and one assistant every Monday and Thursday. The program gives students, at no charge, the opportunity to experience the various mediums of art and display their products. |
