Second Grade

Second grade is working on many exciting things at this time!

 

In math we are working with these strategies to help add larger sums:

Skip counting, grouping landmark numbers, and knowing which operation to use when solvig or writing a story problem and explaining how we solved them.

 

In reading we are working on the strategies of prediction and inferenceand connecting and comparing stories and characters. This has been a great oportunity to work with dialogue as well.

 

In writing we are working on narratives.

- Using writing language

- Developing our characters

-- Creating a believable world

 

In science we are observing the states of matter and in social studies we are studing People and Places, comparing rural and urban areas and figuring out where we live and how we know.

 

The second graders are working hard and we, the second grade team appreciate your help and involvement to help your child in all of these areas.
