PHILOSOPHY OF THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

Central Riverside’s
library media center is standards based. We are focused on supporting the literacy initiative by conducting author studies, providing sets for literature circles, displaying the book of the month, promoting the 25 book campaign standard, and encouraging the selection of the ‘just right’ book for students. We support and implement the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the entire school. We encourage lifelong learning through the introduction of quality literature and information retrieval. The media center strives to serve all students and staff as an integral part of the instructional processes. We are responsible for the acquisition, organization, and circulation of the collection of materials that supports and enhances the curriculum and interests of our faculty and students.
 FROM THE MEDIA CENTER

We welcome Ms. Picray as our full-time media specialist!

Sunshine State Readers
The Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program is a statewide reading motivation program for students in grades 3-8. The program, cosponsored by the School Library Media Services Office of the Department of Education and the Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME), began in 1983.

Third, fourth, and fifth grade students are encouraged to read books from the Florida State Sunshine Book list. Fifteen recently published books are selected by library-media specialists from around the state. Students reading three of the books, will become members of the Sunshine Club and will qualify to vote for their favorite book in the Spring. The students reading all fifteen will receive a trophy.
