MUSIC EDUCATION

Central Riverside recognizes that music is an integral part of a well-rounded education. General Music classes are designed to give all students the opportunity to explore a wide variety of music and to develop a curiosity for the way ,music is created. Included in lesson are music theory, performance, history, and world cultures.

Our music program is an eclectic one that mixes contemporary musical styles with traditional theory including notation, harmony, and ear training. The best practices available in music education today are employed to teach your child. Central Riverside is generously equipped with Orff instruments, two pianos, various percussion instruments, textbooks and other resources., Ensemble work including playing instruments, singing, and moving to music is included in many lesson. Guest performers and workshops are scheduled with the help of PTA.

Curriculum:
Music lessons ate Central Riverside meet the Florida Sunshine State Music Standards for grades K-5. These include:

 Skills and Techniques
Creation and Communication
Cultural and Historical Connections
Aesthetic and Critical Analysis
Application to Life

In addition to regularly scheduled music classes, students are encouraged to participate in the DYNAMIC DOLPHINS funded by the Cathedral Arts Project. The Dynamic Dolphins are students in grades 3-5 who enjoy singing and performing and hold concerts throughout the year.
