Medication
Students
may not bring medicine of any sort to school. In cases where children are taking
internal and/or external medication prescribed by a licensed medical doctor or dentist,
the following guidelines will apply:
The parent must request in person that the student be
given the medication.
The parent must sign a release form allowing the
school principal's designee to administer the medication.
The parent will provide a copy of the
prescription.
The parent will provide complete dosage
instructions, including when to take medicine and the amount to take.
Injury or Illness at School
Pupils should remain home
for a minimum of twenty-four hours following a fever or nausea. A child who suddenly
develops a headache, chill, fever, vomiting spell, or other signs of illness should be
kept home.
A student who becomes ill or injured will be taken to the clinic where
every effort will be made to see that he/she is comfortable.
Office personnel or a volunteer parent will contact the
student's parent if the student needs to go home or if medical attention is required.
It is important that we have an emergency number on file in the school in
order that we may reach you. Emergency numbers should be kept up-to-date.
Emergency Numbers
It is
vitally important that the classroom teacher and the main office have an up-to-date
emergency number in case of illness or accident. This includes work or business
numbers or any relatives or friends we may call in an emergency.
