Winter

Start Planning
--Select 3 to 4 colleges you are interested in attending.
--Get applications and financial information.
--Mark your calendar of test dates and deadlines.  Don't forget about SAT and ACT tests.
--Ask for needed recommendations.
--Write application essays; ask teachers and parents to read first draft.
--Student athletics check with the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.

Applying for Early Admission
--November 1-15: Many colleges require test scores and applications for early acceptance.

Financial Aid Information
--Find out about local and state financial aid.
--Attend financial aid information meeting.
--Search for financial aid opportunities.
--See your counselor about financial opportunities.
 

  Application
--Most college applications deadlines are due between January 1 and February 15.
--Keep copies of everything you send to a college.
--Have your high school transcript mailed to the colleges to which you have applied.

Financial Aid
--Submit FAFSA as soon after January 1 as possible.
--Men 18 or older must register for the Selective Service to receive federal financial aid.
--Many priority financial aid deadlines are in February.  Apply early.

Spring

 
    --By mid-April you will should receive acceptance letters and financial aid offers.
--Visit you final college choice before accepting.
--By May 1 tell each college that has offered you admission whether or not you will accepted.
 
 

Summer

--Have your final transcripts send to your college.
--Start planning for your first year at college.
