Message from the Principal
April 2008
I would like to take this opportunity to express the pride I feel for all of our teachers and students here at The Fort. A tremendous amount of time and effort was invested in preparing for the FCAT, and I know that effort will result in student success! With academic excellence for our students as their goal, our teachers in all grade levels have provided hours of before and/or after school tutoring this school year. Parents, this is time teachers have volunteered for our students. Please join me in expressing heartfelt gratitude to Fort teachers for their commitment to helping our children be successful. FCAT is completed (yea!), Spring is here, but our hard work continues. We need to work to our highest potential and not allow “Spring Fever” make us lose our focus. This last term allows us to finish at our present grade level and become prepared for the next grade level. Please encourage your child to continue their hard work until the last day of school! We will hold our end-of-the year Reading Celebration and Flag Raising on May 23rd. Remember, only those students who have read and logged 25 books will be allowed to participate in this fun event. We want 100% participation in this Reading Celebration, but only dedicated readers and loggers will be able to attend. If the students reach their reading goal of 49,000 books by May 23rd, I will be taking a dive in a dunking booth. They set the challenge and I will honor that challenge! Please encourage them to keep reading and logging their books so we can enjoy this funny sight together! The teamwork between home and school is a powerful tool as evidenced by our successful student population at The Fort! Our tradition of excellence largely depends on your involvement. Thank you for all of the support you provide throughout each school year.
Yours in
education,
