Welcome to the Aviation Academy!

The Frank H. Peterson Academy of Aviation exists to develop future aviation professionals and to promote aviation as an exciting and rewarding career. The program provides pre-professional advance training for post secondary training and industry certification. Students at Frank H. Peterson students start with a solid foundation of aviation basics, then move on to specialized areas of the field including Pilot Technology, Aviation Maintenance Technician, and Air Traffic Control.

Students in the aviation program who complete Private Pilot Ground School can earn industry certification after passing the FAA knowledge test for private pilot. Students primarily interested in aviation maintenance can earn their initial FAA certification by passing the Aviation Maintenance General I exam.

Junior and seniors can earn twelve hours of academic college credit from Florida State College of Jacksonville toward an Associate of Science degree in Operations (Air Traffic Controller), Pilot Technology, or Aviation Maintenance Technology.
