Mr. Betts’ and Ms. Young’s fifth grade students have wrapped up their study of fractions, percents and decimals and will begin to study geometry. They will begin report writing in Writers Workshop. Ms. Bliss’ and Ms. Williams’ fifth grade students will continue working on report writing in Writers Workshop and focus on reading strategies in Readers Workshop. They will begin to study geometry in math. Ms. Britt’s fifth grade students will study predicting outcomes, making inferences, identifying main idea and supporting details in readers workshop. During writers workshop they will focus on how to use figurative language, attention grabbing statements and sensory details in their writing. Ms. Dawson’s fifth grade students will complete their study of fractions, percents and decimals and will begin a new unit on geometry in math. They will learn all about the earth in Science.
