As students of Garden City Elementary School, we will: 1. Follow directions the first time they are given. 2. Keep hands, feet, and other objects to ourselves. 3. Keep school property clean inside and outside. 4. Show respect for adults, other students, and ourselves. 5. Avoid name calling, use of inappropriate language and gestures, teasing, and taking things that do not belong to us. 6. Be prepared and on time daily. Making a Difference An old man walked up to a shore littered with thousands of starfish, beached and dying after a storm. A young man was picking them up and flinging them back into the ocean. “Why do you bother?” the old man scoffed. “You’re not saving enough to make a difference.” The young man picked up another starfish and sent it spinning back into the water. “Made a difference to that one,” he said.
