Safety Nets
2008 - 2009

The purpose of safety nets is to allow students, who are not meeting promotional requirements, to avoid retention.  There are several safety nets offered at Garden City to all students who need them.

Tutoring: 

Before/After School:

This is offered to select students by our certified teachers who tutor reading, writing and math.

In-School:

  • AmeriCorps Duval Reads Program:  These volunteers work with second and third graders.
  • Intensive small group pull out program by the administration and resource teachers.  They tutor reading, writing and math.
  • FCAT Explorer, grades 3-5. is available for students to use at school and/or home.
  • Foster Grandparents Program - These volunteers work with kindergarten students who are behind.
     

Extended Day:

Homework assistance program is provided daily for all students enrolled in the program.
