Description of Program
America's Choice is a comprehensive design for schools that wish to get their students up to high standards in English, Mathematics and Science. It was developed by the National Center on Education and the Economy. America's Choice School Design is based on America's Choice Performance Standards and Assessments Programs. These performance standards are designed to complement and design the content standards that have been developed in many states and school districts. The design focuses on literacy in reading, writing, and mathematics at the primary level. The goal of America's Choice is that students will be fluent readers by the end of third grade; they will be ready for Algebra by the beginning of eighth grade; they will be able to write an essay of the quality of an article in their local newspaper by the end of the tenth grade; and they will have a good grasp of the basic concepts in biology, physics, and chemistry by the time they leave high school.
