October 2011
Thank you all for your support of our school
projects. Because of your support, the cookie fundraiser
exceeded the earnings from last year! This will go a long way in
helping provide students incentives and experiences for our
children. Thanks!
Lunch status from last year's information
expired on October 4, 2011. Please note that your child will
only recieve a cheese sandwich and milk from the cafeteria if
they do not have money to purchase a lunch. If you still haven't
received notification of your status, you may call 732-5145.
Progress Reports went home on September 27,
2011. If you did not receive you child's progress report, please
contact your child's teacher immediately for a copy. If your
child is having difficulty it is important that you contact your
child's teacher for a conference as soon as possible. It is much
easier to put a child back on the right track when concerns are
addressed quickly.
Please take time to read our newsletter. It
is full of great things that are happening at our school this
month. If you haven't submitted a vokkunteer application, please
do so as soon as possible, so that you can participate in every
aspect of your child's education including eating lunch with
them, classroom visits, and chaperoning on field trips.
Reading is one of the cornerstones of your
child's education. It is very important that your child reads of
be read to every night. For younger children, fifteen minutes
each night is a good start. For older children, thirty minutes
every night is appropriate. Working together, we can make a
difference.
Sincerely,
Andrea Williams-Scott

September 2011
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! Thanks
to all of you who attended Open House. We had a great turn-out.
Our faculty and staff had a wonderful time meeting you. Please
don't hesitate to come and visit anytime!
Some of our classes are larger than expected.
As a result, we will be making changes in order to decrease the
number of students in some of our classes. You will be notified
by letter if your child's class will change.
Our PTA Otis Spunkmyer Cookie Fundraiser is
underway! Our packets were sent home on September 1st. We are
looking to make this a record year! The purpose for the sale is
to raise money for student incentive and enhancement activities.
So don't forget to sell, sell, sell! Packets need to be returned
on Monday, September 13th.
Please consider joining PTA. The cost is $5
per family. The PTA supports our school with money and volunteer
hours to make great things happen for our children. Your support
means a lot to us. Our goal is to have 100 families. We had over
25 families sign up at Open House, so we are off to a good
start.
I look forward to working with you this
school year as we prepare to be "College Bound!"
Sincerely,
Andrea Williams-Scott
