School Profile/Demographics
Hyde Grove Elementary is
a Title 1 Reading First SINI school with a grade of “C.” It serves
neighborhood students in grades PreK-5. The current student population is
approximately 560.
- The ethnic
population is 1% Asian, 76% Black, 5% Hispanic, 4% Mixed, and 14% White.
- 84%
of the students are eligible for free/reduced lunch.
- The general
education classes consist of 6 kindergarten, 5 first grade, 4 second
grade, 5 third grade, 3 fourth grade, and 3 fifth grade.
- The school has two
drop-out prevention classes called STAR. One has students in grades 2-3
and the other has students in grades 4-5.
- There are
approximately 57 special needs students who are serviced by ESE teachers
through an inclusion model.
- The school is
currently in state compliance with teacher-to-student ratios. Grades K-3
have an 18:1 or less ratio and grades 4-5 ratio is 22:1 or less.
- Staff includes: 43
full-time faculty and 2 administrators, with ethnic ratios of 72% White;
26% Black; 2% Indian; 89% female; 11% male.
