International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme

As a part of the new Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant, Justina Road Elementary is just beginning the journey to become an authorized Primary Years Programme (PYP). The PYP is designed to offer an interdisciplinary curriculum structured around important concepts. Education for understanding is the fundamental principle of this program where teaching and learning follow an inquiry-based approach. Interdisciplinary units provide a context in which students can acquire essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Students actively engage in the learning process. There is a focus on internationalism and global awareness. The PYP will build on and align with the standards-based curriculum that is already in place. Students receive program continuity to a Middle Years International Baccalaureate Programme.
