Gifted
and Academically Talented
To
prepare students for college preparatory courses at the high
school level, JWJ offers only advanced and gifted classes in
the core academic courses. Students also take physical education/health
and one elective each year. Seventh and Eighth graders may choose
from electives including world languages. Johnson stresses a
total-school experience for all students through participation
in various extracurricular activities.

IB PLACEMENT:
Students have to accept or decline IB placement by
February 17th. If a student decides to decline the IB
invitation, and prefers, instead, to take his/her chances in the
lottery for Stanton, the student should decline the invitation
and submit an application for Stanton and/or Paxon. In order to
be assured placement in one of the two schools the student
must make the two schools the first and second choice. However,
making Stanton the first choice or only choice does not mean
that the student will get Stanton. It's entirely possible the
student would still get Paxon.
