Science:

We want to welcome Ms. Augustine who has taken over for Ms. Van Hise as our new Reading/Social Studies teacher. Comparison of Animals & plants; Traits of animals & how they are passed on

Important Dates:

Upcoming days off: There will be no school for students December 22- January 2, 2009.

In the classrooms:

Math: We are working on decimals, fractions and percents.

Science: We are working on seasons and Earth's rotation and revolution.

Reading: We are working on Compare & Contrast and Main Idea.

Important Information about your Child's homework/grades

1. Reading Journals: Students must read for a minimum of 20 minutes a night as part of their daily reading homework. After they read, they will complete a reading journal. The journals will be collected every week as part of their reading grades. These journals should include information about what they have read using the reading strategies they have learned. These journals are used in their
portfolios to show they have met the 25 book standard. Please make sure your child is reading every night.

2. Progress Reports will be given out EVERY Friday. If there is no school on Friday then it will be handed out the last day of the school week. If your child is absent then he/she will receive it the next day
he/she is present at school.
