The air may be getting colder but 4th grade is still on fire with academics!

Look to see what we’ll be focusing on in our classrooms during the 2nd nine weeks:

 Reading

We’ll begin the second nine weeks by looking at the genre of non-fiction such as science books, newspapers, magazines, etc. We’ll also be learning about how to use non-fiction text features (headings, captions, graphs, etc.) to help us understand what we read!

Writing

During the 2nd nine weeks we’ll be starting to focus on expository writing, or writing to inform, another big focus of FloridaWrites! In the next few weeks, students will see what awesome expository writing looks like and how to plan for it.

 Math /Science (Sellers)

In math, students are working with geoboards and finding fractions of whole shapes. While in science, students are studying electricity and magnetism. Zap!

Math/Science (Harris)

Students are also working with geoboards to work on fractions. While in science,  students are focusing on seasons. Students will learn why and what causes the seasons to change.
