Safety Nets:

The following safety nets are provided to assist students in achieving academic success: 

  1. Assignment Recovery: Learning Community teams create Grade Recovery Plans which allow students to make up missing work to improve their grades.
  1. Before School/After School Tutoring: Teachers offer private tutoring before and after school by appointment. Group tutoring is offered in all four academic subject areas (Science, Social Studies, Language Arts and Math) several times a week beginning at 2:25 PM. Students must sign in with the teacher. Members of the National Honor Society are available for tutoring after school in the Media Center.   1. Grade Recovery: Provided to assist students who have made an effort to be academically successful in a course but have failed to make adequate progress to meet standards during the grading period. To see the eligibility requirements for grade recovery click here
  1. Course Recovery Students may recover credits toward graduation in the following ways:
    • ACCELERATED LEARNING: The Accelerated Learning Center-Credit Recovery is an after-school program designed to allow the student to fulfill graduation requirements through a computer-based, teacher-directed program aligned with state and country curriculum. Students are required to attend a two hour resource period in the Learning Center each day (Monday-Thursday) with teacher supervision and to complete independent work done off campus. Courses are offered in American History, Algebra, American Government, Economics, English, Earth/Space Science, Geometry, Liberal Arts Math, and World History. To see the Student Contract:
    • FLORIDA VIRTUAL SCHOOL: Florida Virtual School is an online high school serving students around the world. More than 80 courses are offered-- including most graduation requirements, electives, test preparation (SAT/FCAT), honors and Advanced Placement.
  1. Dropout Prevention: Several Graduation alternatives are available to assist students:
    • GRADUATION INITIATIVE: The GED Exit Option Model is a program to assist overage-for-grade students in graduating from high school via successful completion of GED test and FCAT exam. Students receive a district high school diploma. To see basic requirements/entry process:
    • ALTERNATIVES UNLIMITED: Drop Back In Academy-Alternatives Unlimited is a flexible academic program for students who have dropped out of school, failed to maintain a 2.0 GPA, and need to work.
