Lola M. Culver

Teaching Children Continuously Since 1916

School Hours: 8:30-3:00

Vision:

To develop confident and competent learners who will demonstrate mastery of all required Sunshine State Standards by effectively using all the learning opportunities and resources available.

Mission:

The faculty and staff of Lola M. Culver Elementary are committed to work with the community to develop confident and competent learners who will demonstrate mastery of all required Sunshine State Standards so that, upon entry to middle school, no remediation is deemed necessary in any subject area. Furthermore, it is our hope that these students will remain motivated to learn and become contributing members of society upon reaching adulthood.

Demographic Information:

Located at 580 Lawton Avenue in Jacksonville, Florida, Lola M. Culver Elementary School is a small, antiquated, urban school located about 5 miles north of downtown Jacksonville. The school was built in 1916 by the renowned architect, Henry Klutho, as a crowning glory to the model Panama Park community. The school is home to about 240 Pre K- 5th grade basic and Exceptional Education students. The racial community reflects a 74/26 black, non-black distribution. The geographic surroundings have become depressed and socio-economic opportunity has declined with a free/reduced lunch rate of 87%. But the student body remains vibrant and eager to learn. Many business partners and faith-based institutions have joined forces to ensure that positive educational activities and motivational incentives are provided to improve learning for our boys and girls.
