Assistant Principal's Message
Lone Star Elementary
5th Grade
2011-2012
Fifth
graders have worked hard completing the
first nine weeks. During the second nine
weeks we are looking forward to going to
Starbase and getting to learn lots of
new science, math and technology while
we are there. We will be going in three
groups starting in October and
continuing into November.
The
academics planned for this nine weeks
are as follows:
In
Readers Workshop this nine weeks, we
will be working on the following:
author's viewpoint, evaluate,
cause/effect, summarize, topic/main
idea/ idea details, and questioning.
In Writers Workshop, we are finishing up our narratives and moving on to report writing.
In Math, students will finish division will begin fractions, decimals and percents. Our areas of study in Science are matter and forms of energy.

We are
learning about Early America in Social
Studies.
Students should continue to come to
school prepared with, pencils, agendas
signed, homework completed and accurate
and ready to participate.
