The purpose of the
Mandarin High School SAC is to:
1. assist in the
preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan
2. assist in the
preparation of educational improvement proposals for implementing as
educational improvement grant
3. assist in the
preparation of the school’s annual budget
4. perform functions
prescribed by regulations of the district school board
According to the DCPS
website, the School Advisory Council plays a vital role in the overall
operation and success of schools throughout Duval County and the State of
Florida. The councils, mandated by the Florida Legislature in 1991,
provide parents, students, faculty, staff, and community and business
members an opportunity to get involved with a school’s long-term mission
and short-term objectives by participating in the development of education
priorities and the assessment of school needs.
The Mandarin High SAC committee meets eight
(8) times throughout the school year. The SAC is a “sunshine
organization” and non-members are encouraged to attend, but may not vote.
Voting in SAC meetings is limited to appointed members only.
