WELCOME TO THE 2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR

Greetings students, parents, and all Mandarin stakeholders; we are getting ready to open up another new school year and things are looking very positive here on our beautiful campus.  We have been cleaning up and sprucing up our school all summer long, and are anxious to get our students back with us soon.  We have had parents, faculty, and staff helping beautify our grounds, and feel well prepared to receive our returning and new Mandarin students.

We are also hosting student Orientations the week of August 8th, with the St. Johns House having the very first one at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.  Our Freshman Orientation is on Tuesday, August 9, at 1:00 p.m. starting in the Mandarin Auditorium.  Freshmen need only attend their afternoon Orientation, but the other House Orientations are: Wednesday (8/10/11) – Greenland House at 9:00 a.m., and San Jose House on that same Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon.  On Thursday, August 11, Julington House has its Orientation at 9:00 a.m., and St. Augustine House has its Orientation at 1:00 p.m.   There will also be items for sale (lockers, parking passes, tee shirts, book bags, etc.), so you may need to bring some cash with you to these Orientations. You may also hear this information by dialing the school at 260-3911 and Press 1 for Mustang Information. We want to keep you as informed as possible.

In closing, I am thrilled to be starting my third year here at Mandarin High School as we all focus our energies on being “Champions of Excellence” in every avenue of our students’ education.  Our FCAT scores have arrived and we are proud to announce that Mandarin is an “A” school again.   We had enough points last school year to be an “A” as well, but did not show enough gains in our bottom quartile readers, therefore were dropped to a “B” by the State.  We believe that we have the most highly qualified group of teachers and administrators possible to serve your children this school year, and we encourage you to be a part of your child’s education.  Please join our PTSA or serve on our School Advisory Council, which meets the third Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. in the Mandarin Media Center.  We welcome you to our campus any time.  Please drop by and greet this principal, who is here to ensure your child learns when he/she comes to school each day, and that SUCCESS becomes a natural byproduct of his/her educational experience.   The first day of school is August 22, starting at 7:30 a.m. Hope to see you soon,

                                                                                                                           Your  Principal,
