Mr. Jim Schmitt is an Assistant Principal as well as Standards Coach here at Mandarin High.  Born and raised in New York, he is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.  From 1987-93 he served as a Naval Officer on the U.S.S. Vreeland and the Saratoga.  In 1993 he became a teacher, and taught Math and Social Studies at Northwestern Middle School.  He transferred to the Paxon School for Advanced Studies in 1998, where he taught Economics and AP U.S. History.

Mr. Schmitt came to Mandarin High in 2001, and, until taking over as Assistant Principal, was a Social Studies teacher and Standards Coach.

Mr. Schmitt's activities include underwater spear fishing and reading (not at the same time!).  He enjoys baseball, has coached Cross Country and Track, and is deeply involved in the study of the theories and practices of education.
