New Lunchroom Procedures Implemented

Dear Mandarin High School Parents, due to some unsafe conditions that occurred during the first semester of the school year, we have had to make some safety changes to our lunch procedures for the sake of your children. The children were notified before the break of these changes by way of memos, the school news station, and intercom announcements. This is a very new change for our students and they are accustomed to walking unmonitored around our campus during lunch. Now, only seniors may eat lunch in the front courtyard but the 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students must eat lunch in the cafeteria and/or the two outer courtyards during this 30 minute time period. The capacity of this area is 775 students, which is more than adequate to accommodate our four lunches. You can be assured that there are from three to five administrators in each of these lunch periods along with additional supervision. Also, students may receive passes to the media center at this time and restroom hall passes are available at the front of the cafeteria. This has worked beautifully all week long until some of our students had a food fight today to let us know how much they do not like the change, but this change is to keep them safe.  Please understand that we take this seriously and have dealt serious consequences to those students identifying as throwing food. We appreciate your support and understanding that our primary concern is the safety of your child and his or her education. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact your child's House Administrator between the hours of 7:30am to 2:40pm.  Again, thank you for your support.

Mandarin High School Administration.
