This is your Principal, Dr. Donna Richardson, here
to share some important happenings at Mandarin High School today. Florida class
size regulation requires our core classes to have no more than 25 students as
an average overall, and Mandarin has started the year with 28 students. The
district and budget offices have advised that we need to make some immediate
changes to satisfy state requirements. So, what does that mean to your
students?
Well, it means that we had to cut
three electives and add seven core classes, adding seven brand new teachers.
This required that we reschedule half of our entire school. Today, your
children are receiving new schedules and many o f them will experience class
changes. The children were moved randomly for the sake of equity, which merely
means that if five children needed moving from an over-crowded classroom, then
every fifth child was moved. Please remember that these are necessary
adjustments that we had to make and that they are going to be beneficial to you
children, as they now have smaller core classrooms.
We appreciate your support in this
endeavor and your trust in us for doing what is best for Mandarin High School.
Thank you and please have a great day.
