Our Mandarin community
has had the privilege of participating in a program this year involving
three Chinese instructors; one at Mandarin Oaks, Mandarin Middle, and
Mandarin High. All three teachers have given the gift of their language
and culture to our students.
Last week, a 7.9
magnitude earthquake shook western China, followed by strong
aftershocks, which have devastated many of its cities. Because we have
gained so much from them, we would like to give back to our Chinese
instructors.
In conjunction with
Chinacare.org, a nonprofit organization, the three schools have created
a plan to assist those in need, particularly a Chinese orphanage. In
addition to the items needed* (listed below by grade level), we are accepting donations of adult socks for rescue workers.
Because of the urgent
need, the items should be turned in at school ( Main Office) no later
than Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Your support with this project and
your contributions will touch the lives of adults and children thousands
of miles away.
