Summary: The Chess Club meets every other Monday in the Media Center to provide students an opportunity to improve their chess skills or learn the strategies involved in play.
Goals: The goal is to foster the enjoyment of the game of chess, and to provide instruction for those who wish to play. The club sponsors two tournaments a year and is open to all students.
Awards: MHS Chess club has won the overall tournament trophy for Jacksonville City Scholastic for 4 years, 9-12 category. Individual members have placed lst and 2nd place in the tournament.
