Summary: The Chess Club meets every other monday in the media center to provide students an opportunity to improve their chess skills or learn the strategies involved in play.
Goals: To foster the enjoyment of the game of chess, and to provide instruction for those who wish to play. The club sponsors two tournaments a year and is open to all students.
Awards: MHS Chess Club has won the overall tournament trophy for Jacksonville City Scholastics for 4 yrs, 9-12 category. Individual members have placed 1st and 2nd in the tournaments.
