Lights, Christmas, Exercise! Aretha Franklin sang her
classic song, "We Wish You a Merry
Christmas".
at the 12th annual Florida Tel-co Festival of Lights. It was a
breezy event sponsored by the non-profit organization, Children’s Miracle
Network. This holiday event had over 3,000 runners` running to
bring in the holiday spirit around Jacksonville community. The occasion is
always promoted the first Sunday in December where anyone can participate and
feel the joyous spirit of Christmas.
“Some of the sponsors are 102.9, News Channel 4 and Food
Lion who helped to make this event come true”, said Public Relations specialist,
Lauren Andry .
Ms. Lauren Andry ahs been coordinating and directing this
event for two years. As a person she likes the event and how everything turns into a masterpiece.
“Besides the Festival of Lights, Children’s Miracle
Network also puts on an event in St. Augustine which is a Holiday Concert
sponsored by St.Vincents hospital,” said Andry.
Along with the holidays coming nearer, a lot of citizens of
Jacksonville are busy trying to find the perfect gift for relatives while
those 120 volunteers at the Festival of
Lights, Children’s Miracle Network dare busy assisting make the event go
smoothly.
“We have Junior League of Women of Jacksonville helping
along with some volunteers from Children’s Miracle network and other non-profit
organizations,” said Andry.
With the evening occasion turning out very bright and
mirthful the main goal for Children’s Miracle Network is to benefit their two
leading hospitals and impoverished children, most importantly, Shands Jacksonville and
Wolfson Children’s hospital. Children’s Miracle Network funds these two
hospitals which provides them the gifts of necessities: hygiene products and
items necessary for the children.
As Christmas comes near, the true meaning of the season is
the time to make an opportunity to give back to Jacksonville community because
making someone else happy can make you thankful for the blessings that surround
your daily life.
