Mandarin Mile: Cross Country Style

By: Elise Parson

This summer, the Lady Mustangs Cross Country team is traveling to Colorado for one week of intense training for our upcoming cross country season. There’s only one major issue: the cost. Believe it or not, not everything in life is free. So in order to raise funds for each girl to have the Rocky Mountain experience, on May 16th 2009, the Lady Mustangs Cross Country team is holding a fundraiser that both guys and girls ages 5+ can participate in.

What exactly is this fundraiser you say? It’s just one mile, to get kids, teenagers and adults alike off their couches and into shape. You can run, walk, skip, gallop or jump: anything you want to get across the finish line and it only costs $10.

Did I mention the prizes? The top three finishers in each group and gender, will receive awards and everyone that participates gets an official event t-shirt.

The race will be separated by age and gender as follows:

Girls from ages 13-18 at 8:00 am

Boys from ages 13-18 at 8:15 am

Girls from ages 9-12 at 8:30 am

Boys from ages 9-12 at 8:50 am

Girls from ages 5-8 at 9:10 am

Boys from ages 5-8 at 9:30 am

If you’re interested in participating in the Mandarin Mile, please contact Coach Theresa Robinson, Elise Parson or any of the cross country girls.
