Dr. Richardson, Principal of Mandarin High, believes that she has made many positive changes for Mandarin since she has been here.

Over the past three years, Dr. Richardson said that discipline has decreased, as in less students are requiring discipline, and that she has picked strong teachers to join the Mandarin faculty.

She has really focused on our campus these past years and is trying to create a culture of character.

Dr. Richardson’s giving of excellence awards to students is a positive change that she has brought to Mandarin to promote good behavior.

Dr. Richardson also gives out Fred Awards to the teachers to reward them for their hard work and success.

Every morning Dr. Richardson recites a speech to “motivate” students. She wants us to be reminded that we each “are a very unique individual.” She also believes her speeches serve as “encouragement” to strive for excellence in the classroom.

Dr. Richardson also states that the lunches are better this year. “I want you to eat a healthy lunch, “she said. This year to make lunches healthier she has made a wrap station in the cafeteria in order to allow students to make their own healthy meals.

Dr. Richardson said that since she has been here the AICE/AP classes are “doing great.”

She also found two nurses this year for the Medical Academy. Dr. Richardson said they are “dynamic” nurses and the program was struggling before she found them.

Dr. Richardson feels the students at Mandarin are very prepared for college and are doing a “really good job.”

She has made several changes these past years in trying to make Mandarin’s environment “safer” and for to promote “academic success.”

Dr. Richardson said “You have the will power. We aren’t promised tomorrow, we can only promise right now.”
