On April 18th, the pageant for Miss Mandarin was held at Mandarin High
school's auditorium. This pageant was judged by local experts in each field
of talent that the contestants performed, and had no connection to any of
the ladies. A total of fourteen ladies applied for Miss Mandarin; all being
juniors, as that's one of the requirements. The ladies performed to the
theme of " We've Got the Beat", in front of an audience of around 600
people.
After each lady's performance, they were closely judged by experts in
every field of dancing, singing, music, and style. With the final decision,
the fourth runner up was Kirsten Bowens, third runner up was Ashley Smith,
second runner up was Cindy, and first runner up was Erica McBride, with Miss
Felicity Price being awarded the title of Miss Mandarin 2009.
Miss Felicity
Price is a member of the AICE program and the National Honors Society. She is
the president of the Young Peoples Division at her church, and a teen volunteer
for Shands Hospital. Her future career goals include attending a Florida
University to major in English and minor in Political Science. She then hopes to
attend law school and to own and operate her own Court Reporting Business. When
asked, Felicity went on to say, " I felt well prepared for my monologue, and I
thought I did my best. And yes, I was surprised to be chosen for Miss Mandarin."
Congratulations to all the young girls that participated.
