Awards and Achievements

bullet "A" School Designation for the last 8 years

Under No Child Left Behind, each state developed and implemented measurements for determining whether its schools and local educational agencies (LEAs) are making adequate yearly progress (AYP).  AYP is an individual state's measure of progress toward the goal of 100 % of students achieving state academic standards in at least reading/language arts and math.  It sets the minimum level of proficiency that the state, its school districts, and schools must achieve each year on annual tests and related academic indicators.

Unique Programs Specific To Mandarin Oaks Elementary

·        Mandarin Oaks provides educational and related services to a number of students who are enrolled in numerous low-incidence Exceptional Education programs. These students have a wide variety of disabilities and are provided a quality education in supportive and participatory classes where their individual needs are met.  We also provide support from our therapy team consisting of Occupational and Physical Therapists, Speech/Language Pathologists, Vision and Hearing Teachers, as well as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.  Full time registered nurses are also on site to deliver services for those requiring special medical assistance. We are very proud of our ability to provide all students with an outstanding educational program in a positive school environment.

·        Mandarin Oaks provides instruction in Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture for all students in kindergarten through fifth grades.  This Chinese program was implemented during the 2007-2008 school year and was the district’s first elementary Chinese program.  Ms. Alisa Ma will be teaching our wonderful Chinese classes this year.

·        Mandarin Oaks Elementary continues to reach out into the community by providing classes for children and adults through our Community Education Program.  This program is one of only three Community Education Programs currently housed at elementary schools in the district. We are presently offering twenty-nine different classes with an enrollment of 220 students, both children and adult.

·        Mandarin Oaks is fortunate to have extremely involved parents and parent organizations that provide support to our students. The PTA works tirelessly to support the goals of the school in a variety of ways.  Many parent volunteers work daily with teachers and students to help extend student knowledge in both reading and math.

·        Mandarin Oaks has been recognized for its many achievements.  We are a multiple year recipient of the Five Star School Award, the Golden School Award, as well as the 2008 Little Red Schoolhouse Award.
