Community/Business Partners

Dear Community Partner,

    Mattie V. Rutherford is an alternative middle school located in historic Springfield. We serve students who have academic and behavioral difficulties in middle school. We provide students a district-aligned curriculum, an integrated counseling component, and various support services.  Students assigned to our school must complete one quarter of their school year here. Our support services, rituals and routines, and overall profile are designed to improve student attendance, academics, and socio-emotional behavior. Our goal is to provide students with the academic instruction, learning strategies, motivation, support, and coping skills they need to be successful in any school setting and in the community. 

    Every staff member at our school has committed to ensuring student academic, personal, and socio-emotional growth. We accept the challenges that accompany our students and are prepared to meet students where they are in their young lives. 

    We believe that developing partnerships in the community can help us strengthen our capacity to serve students. Therefore, we are actively seeking community partnerships and need your support. Your specific support may include donating financial contributions, mentoring, volunteering time, supplying resources, and/or whatever you can provide to help us serve our students. Currently, we need financial support to purchase educational resources, provide incentives, and sponsor educational events for our students. We also need volunteers and time investments to fully engage our students.  

    As a show of our appreciation, we will announce our community partners during our student celebrations. Your organization will receive notice of various events taking place at our school and copies of our newsletters. In addition, we will list our community partners in our newsletters, which are distributed to community businesses.
