FAQ

What should be the first things I talk about with my mentee?

Introduce yourself – let your mentee know a little about you. Ask them to share a little about themselves. If possible, take your mentee on a tour of the building, pointing out the basics (bathrooms, lounge, mailboxes, school mail drop; bus/dismissal areas, etc.). Schedule a time for you and your mentee to meet on a weekly basis. Spend a bit of time talking about the first day. Allow the mentee to ask a lot of questions.

How often should I meet with my mentee?

Meetings should be scheduled weekly during the first semester.  In addition to the weekly meetings, stay in touch with your mentee via e-mail, notes, drop-in visits, or telephone.  During the second semester, the weekly meetings may be continued if needed, or they may change to bi-weekly.
