Apply to be a volunteer online.
Note: You may ask
the school if you can use a computer to apply online. You will
need to have your social security number to apply. All required
information must be entered in order for the application to be
submitted. Please allow a two week turn-around for the
application process to be completed.

Contact your school volunteer liaison to let the school know you
are interested in volunteering at the school and to discuss
volunteering opportunities.

You will receive a letter
confirming that you have been approved to volunteer. Please keep
it with you to present to the front office when you check in to
volunteer. Please remember to sign in and out in the Volunteer
book found in the front office. Your volunteer hours help not
only the children and teachers, but help the schools achieve
awards from the Florida Department of Education.

TEAM UP &
Community Connections- TEAM UP is a
free after-school program that provides a safe environment where
students are encouraged and motivated to succeed in both their
academic and enrichment activities. The program takes place in 19
Duval County schools and serves kindergarten through eighth grade
students Monday through Friday for three hours each day. The program
focuses on six core areas – academic enrichment, sports and
recreation, life skills, cultural enrichment, parental involvement
and community service.
Class T-Shirts
Class t-shirts will be on sale for
$4.00. Please send in money for your child to purchase a class
t-shirt. The t-shirts are to be worn on field trip days and special
occasions at school to show school spirit. More information will be
provided by the school and your child's teacher.
Free Tutoring for Eligible Students
Duval County
Public Schools is offering free tutoring to students who meet
certain qualifications. As a result of the federal No Child Left
Behind Act, students can be eligible to receive extra help in the
areas of math, reading, language arts and science. In order to
participate in this opportunity, the student must be enrolled in an
eligible Title I school and qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
Tutoring applications will be
mailed to eligible students on August 18 and must be returned to the
Title I Office by September 2, 2011.

REMINDER: The deadline for SES tutoring applications is
9/2/11. Please mail all applications directly – we will not be
accepting them at school.

Information:
Increase in the cost of Elementary
Lunch Prices - Please be
aware that there has been an INCREASE in the price for
school lunch this school year. Elementary lunches will now cost
$1.60 each day and $0.40 for "reduced meals". Adult meals are
$3.00. Please visit
MyLunchMoney.com to create and/or manage your child's online
account for lunch.

completed on Food Service's website, picked up from the front office

qualifying for Free or Reduced Price Meals or would like to request

Enrolling Kindergarteners & Transferring Students
- Enrollment is the first step on the
journey. It's the beginning of an exciting time for the
family. Preparation is the key to making enrollment
successful. Getting the
proper required documentation. What you'll need to in
order will make the process efficient. Florida laws for
children are very specific.
Review them and be sure you are in compliance. All
children must attend school until they reach the age of 16.

Kindergarten Enrollment Information:
Kindergarten
registration is now open at all elementary schools.
Children are eligible to enroll in public school
kindergarten if they have attained age 5 on or before
September 1 of the current school year. (1003.21.2,F.S.)
To determine
which school your student is zoned to attend,

Before admittance to
kindergarten this fall, the principal shall require evidence
of the child’s age which should be documented by one
of the following:

Birth certificate
-
Certificate of Baptism
-
Insurance policy on the
child’s life, which has been in force for at least 2
years

Bona fide religious record
of child’s birth with sworn affidavit by the parent
-
Passport or certificate of
arrival in the United States indicating the age of the
child

Affidavit of age sworn by
parent and signed by a public health official
In addition to the proof of
age, the principal shall also require the following for
children registering for kindergarten:

Certificate of a school
entry health examination performed within one year on
enrollment

Immunization record

Proof of home address
-
Social security number
