Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test® 2.0
(FCAT 2.0)
The FCAT 2.0 measures student achievement of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. The transition from FCAT to FCAT 2.0 will be phased in, with 2011 FCAT 2.0 Reading and Mathematics being the first assessments to begin this transition. FCAT 2.0 Science will be administered to students for the first time in the spring of 2012.
To fully transition to the new FCAT 2.0, Florida must engage in a process of identifying new Achievement Levels. This process is known as standard setting. Standard setting includes many steps, including the development of Achievement Level Descriptions (ALDs). Given the extremely critical role that ALDs will serve in standard setting, the Department is requesting feedback on the drafts from Florida educators and other stakeholders. At this time, drafts are posted for the following FCAT 2.0 assessments: FCAT 2.0 Reading (grades 3-8) and FCAT 2.0 Mathematics (grades 3-10). The 30-day public review period will end on April 25, 2011.
About the Assessments
What's on the Assessments
To learn more about the content of FCAT 2.0, individuals may review the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and the Test Item Specifications. The Standards specify the expectations for student learning in Florida and the Test Item Specifications describe how the test questions (or items) on the assessment will measure student achievement of these Standards.
