“Dreams Begin Here: A Next Generation Magnet School” “Where We Exhibit Our Knowledge”
Under the Museum Studies magnet theme, students at Ortega Museum Magnet Elementary School connect with Jacksonville’s cultural resources through a partnership with many of the city’s museums and through a close partnership with the College of Fine Arts (Department of Arts and Design) at Jacksonville’s University of North Florida. Students visit museums and galleries on a regular basis, learning how museums operate, how displays are created, and how museums are managed. Ortega’s teachers develop learning modules that are aligned with district and state standards in mathematics, literacy, social studies, science, art, music, and technology that will culminate in quarterly Exhibit Openings to showcase progress through student-designed exhibits.
