Dear Parent(s):

On behalf of the Paxon Middle School staff, we would like to welcome you to another exciting year at Paxon Middle. We are looking forward to working closely with you and your child in a concerted effort to make this school year a most successful and productive educational experience. Our theme for this school year will be CHARTING NEW ROUTES TO A WORLD CLASS EDUCATION.

As we embark upon a new chapter in the history of Paxon, I wish to thank many of the parents and students that I have had an opportunity to meet and greet throughout this “long” summer. I know that through our concentrated efforts we will live up to our vision of providing a world class education to each Paxon student.

Parents, this year we have added a mandatory requirement that all Paxton Middle School students must wear uniforms. The policy was approved and adopted by out SAC, PTA and Shared Decision-Making Committees. Our uniform policy aligns perfectly with our IB program and has the goal of instilling dignity and pride within our student body.

The mission of Paxon Middle School is to create a safe friendly campus in which all students, parents, staff and community cooperate and communicate in a caring, respectful, manner resulting in an atmosphere of pride. In order to fulfill our mission, parental involvement and participation are essential components of our educational structure. This can be accomplished by participating and serving on school committees, or sharing your expertise and talents with our students. Remember that Paxon Middle School is your school and our success greatly depends on you.

The staff will work toward our major goal of increasing reading comprehension and math skills across the curriculum. As you are aware, the board has approved early dismissal days for schools to focus on professional development. These early dismissal professional development days will allow us to implement effective instructional methods, align curriculum and assessment with Standards, and improve instructional design and delivery.

We wish to invite you to visit our school to observe, confer, or to seek information, as well as attend planned programs and events throughout the school year. Please take a few moments to read our quarterly newsletter and calendar. Our newsletter is sent home quarterly. A schedule of events, the school menu and other informational items will be listed to keep you updated. We want to keep you well informed of the wonderful things going on at Paxon Middle School. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact the office at 693-7600, we will be happy to assist you.
