August 1, 2011
Dear Parents and Guardians of Ramona Elementary Students:
This year we are having a dress code of “Uniform” starting on January 1, 2012. School uniforms create an enhanced climate for learning. Uniforms help students focus on their most important task, learning. By eliminating the daily distractions of clothing, as well as the peer pressure associated with “label competition,” uniforms set the tone for a proper classroom, reduced behavior problems and improved student performance. It will be required for students to wear uniforms starting January 1, 2012.
· School uniforms created an enhanced climate for learning
· School uniforms boost school unity and pride
· School uniforms encourage individual self expression
· School uniforms are cost effective
Comparisons show that school uniforms cost significantly less than most parents pay for other school clothes. School uniforms are less expensive that other types of clothing.
Uniform shirt will be red or blue polos with either navy or khaki pants or shorts, shorts or jumpers for girls. Students will wear ankle socks with red, blue or white along with white sneakers or low heeled, closed toe and backed brown or black shoes. Sweaters should be either plain navy, red, or white. A white long-sleeved (plain – no writing or design) shirt may worn under the polo when it’s cold.
We will have polo shirt available with the Ramona Boulevard Eagle this year. You will be able purchase or put shirt on layaway soon.
There are many stores with uniforms on sale: Wal-Mart, Kmart, JC Penny, Marshall or Bealls, Sears, etc. Some stores will let parents put the school uniform on layaway.
