Is it OK to share my username and password to Insight/Inform?

It is a violation of the District Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) to use the login information for anyone other than themselves.  If you have been logging in as other teachers using http://www.duvalschools.org/reseval/DAT/ you will need to have those teachers change their DCPS password.  To do this, they can press Ctrl +Alt+Del and click “Change Password,” or change it in the Options of DCPS Webmail.  You must use the district-approved site to log into Insight and Inform, which is http://www.duvalschools.org/reseval/DAT . If you are unable to log on using this website, in an emergency, you may want to try https://sso.learningstation.com/duval .

How are Insight and Inform funded?

Insight and Inform are funded through the Race to the Top Grant. Race to the Top calls for reforms around four specific areas:

  • Adopting standards and assessments that prepare students to succeed in college and the workplace and to compete in the global economy;
  • Building data systems that measure student growth and success, and inform teachers and principals about how they can improve instruction;
  • Recruiting, developing, rewarding, and retaining effective teachers and principals, especially where they are needed most; and
  • Turning around our lowest-achieving schools.

For more information please visit the FLDOE's website for Race to the Top.

What changes have been made in the Student Progression Plan regarding K-2 FAIR and student promotion?

The DCPS Board approved the following change to the Student Progression Plan:

Students in grades K-2 are required “to meet the teacher judgment requirement, and a Probability of Reading Success (PRS) score of 54 percent or greater on Assessment Period 3 of the Florida Assessments for Instruction in Reading (FAIR).  The SAT10 will be administered prior to the end of the school year to students who do not meet the FAIR requirement.  A score at or above the 50th percentile, which is the state determined cut point for grade level performance on the SAT/10, will satisfy the FAIR requirement.”

(See item #2 under “Discussion” on Page 7 of the November 1, 2011 Board Meeting Agenda)

Insight

What is Insight?

Insight is an assessment management and delivery system.  Through Insight, teachers can create, assign, and view reports on various types of assessments.  Students may log into the same single-sign on to take the assessments online and receive instantaneous feedback.

top of page

Why can't I see everything properly in Insight?

The number one reason Insight is not displaying properly is because you or your students are not using Firefox as the browser.

How do I bring up the pre-slugged answer documents (bubble sheets) for different classes in Insight?

Note: You must use Firefox for your browser to see the pull down for classes. It can be downloaded from www.mozilla.com.  This is a free download, and you do not need administrator rights on your computer.

On the right side of your screen at the top, when you are looking at the test, there is now a pull-down menu for you to select which class/period for which you would like to print scan sheets. When you select a class (it will appear as a blue link), you will then activate the scan sheet generator.

The computer then knows which names to put on the scan sheets. Click to generate the preslugged answer documents. It will queue, process and when it turns green, it is ready for you to print the bubble sheets.

After printing your first set of scan sheets, use the pull-down to select your next class. Click to REFRESH the preslugged answer documents. It has cached or saved your documents from the previous class. Then click to generate the new bubble sheets.

Please make sure that your printer has good toner, so the bar codes at the bottom of the bubble sheets are crisp and clear. When scanning through the Lexmark scanner, check to make sure the screen is clear of debris. Scan sheets must be placed face up in the hopper, or they will scan as blank pages. Also, check the arms of the hopper and ensure that they are close against the papers being fed in, or the papers will skew as they go through the scan process. If so, the computer will be unable to read the bar code.

top of page

What proficiency profile is used for the K-2 Math Assessments?

The proficiency used is the default proficiency for Insight.

top of page

What do I do if I can't see the black navigation bar at the top of Insight?

This is likely an issue with the cache. This occurs occasionally when you have multiple accounts open and are working in each. The easiest way to fix this issue is to clear your cache. Here is how you do this in Firefox.

Inform

What is Inform?

Inform is a data management and analysis system.  Inform includes dashboards, highly customizable reports, and other features useful for tracking interventions for selected groups of students. Depending on the user’s level of access, they may have the ability to drill down from district-wide generalities to individual schools, teachers, and even students.

top of page

How do I see my data?

To see data, you need to do one of three things: open a report on the Primary Dashboard, click on a student’s name in the Student Dashboard, or open a report in the Assessment Dashboard.  There are several tutorials that will show you steps to open different types of reports.

top of page

Can I compare fall and winter Interim Benchmark Assessment data?

Yes!  Click HERE to view the tutorial for comparing Interim Benchmark Assessments using the Test Results screen.

top of page

What new information do I need to know about Interim Benchmark Assessments?

Interim Benchmark Assessment (IBA) Proficiency Profiles have changed. Use IBA New Cuts Likelihood to view your overall test scores. Use Percent Correct-Fourths to view IBA data at the Reporting Category or Benchmark level.
Click HERE to view the current cut score summary.

Example: The Fall Grade 3 Reading "75% Likelihood" cut score is 44. This means that on the Fall administration of the Grade 3 Interim Benchmark, at least 75% of the students who were able to answer at least 44% of the items correctly, earned an FCAT Reading achievement level of 3 or higher at the end of the school year.

*NOTE: Because 5th and 8th grade science, biology and geometry tests are new this year, use the Proficiency Profile: Concepts-Fourths when running reports for these assessments.

What is the difference between a display and a filter when pulling reports?

A display will give you the names of everyone, and a filter will only give you the information you are asking for.

Example:
If I am trying to find a report showing students enrolled in free and reduced lunch, I can choose "display--free and reduced lunch," to see ALL of my students and whether they are "Yes", "No", or "No Response". Or I can choose "free and reduced lunch" as a filter and choose the "=" "Y" to see ONLY the students that are on free and reduced lunch.

top of page

How can I better understand the term "Likelihood"?

Likelihood estimates are based on correlations using the newly adopted FCAT 2.0 cut scores as applied to the 2011 FCAT 2.0 results.

Example: The Fall Grade 3 Reading "75% Likelihood" cut score is 56. This means that on the Fall administration of the Grade 3 Interim Benchmark Assessment in Reading in 2011, at least 75% of the students who were able to answer at least 56% of the items correctly earned an FCAT Reading achievement level of 3 or higher at the end of the school year.

top of page

Where is the "Shared Library," and how do I access those reports?

The shared library is accessed by clicking on the "greater than" symbol under the Primary Dashboard tab.

Click on the ARROW next to the Shared Library Folder.

Click on the arrow next to the folder you wish to view.

Find the report/dashboard you would like to view, and click ONE TIME on the name. You may need to wait for the report/dashboard to run.

top of page

Why does it say I have "insufficient privileges" to view student data?

If you have "insufficient privileges," this means that you are either in the wrong context (example: a teacher in the school context), or you are trying to access students that are not assigned to you in Genesis. Feel free to call the Data & Assessment Team if you need further assistance in this area (904-390-2678 or DAT@duvalschools.org) Be prepared to give us a few student names.

top of page

How do I change the context?

In the gray bar that is in the middle of the page, click on the "three-pronged" object and select the correct context that you would like to view. Click here to view a video.

Example: The Fall Grade 3 Reading "75% Likelihood" cut score is 56. This means that on the Fall administration of the Grade 3 Interim Benchmark Assessment in Reading in 2011, at least 75% of the students who were able to answer at least 56% of the items correctly earned an FCAT Reading achievement level of 3 or higher at th eend of the school year.

top of page

What does the Proficiency Profile Tab show?

To access the Proficiency Profile Tab, click on the tab above the Primary Dashboard that has a circle with a small graph in it. The Proficiency Profile Tab shows the cut-off scores for various tests and reports in Inform. For example, when you click on FCAT, it will show you the cut-off scores for the different levels in FCAT. Click here to view a video.

top of page

What do the different icons in the report view mean?

Most reports in Inform have four small tabs on the top left in the Chart View Toolbar.

Most reports in Inform have four small tabs on the top right in Chart Control Toolbar.

Additionally, the option to Print/PDF and Save Report to Library will be available in each report window.

Where can I access my students' PMPs?

You can access your students' PMPs two ways.

You can click on the “Student Dashboard” tab and then click on the greater than symbol under the words “Student Dashboard.”  This will give you a list of students assigned to you in Genesis.  Click on a student’s name, and then open the middle box that has “AIP” in the corner.  You may see a note that says, “This student does not qualify for a DCPS PMP would you like to add student to this AIP?”  Click on “yes.”  Click here to view a detailed tutorial.

To access a PMP, click on the magnifiying glass on the right hand side of your screen. Type in the student's name or student ID number and click "search."

top of page

How can I see my students' names after I pull up a report?

Find the assessment on the Test Results screen. Hover over any of the colored bars of the graph and you will see different scores, depending on the assessment. For example, if you are looking for FCAT reading data, while hovering over the bars, you will see the # and % of students scoring level 1, level 2, level 3, level 4 & level 5. If you want only level 1s, click on that section of the graph and the students will populate. If you want all of the students at once, simply click on the # in the “Students Tested” column.
