Project Proficere
RTTT District-Developed Assessments
for the Hard-to-Measure Content Area of World
Languages
Duval County Public Schools
Project Proficere (Proficere is the Latin translation for the word achieve)
is also known as Project A.C.H.I.E.V.E., Aligning Content in
Hard-to-measure areas for Instructional
Effectiveness and Valid Evaluations.
Project Proficere engages teachers and
other World Languages specialists throughout Florida to develop high-quality assessments for French, German, Italian, Latin, and American Sign Language.
Once these assessments are complete they will be
available to all teachers within the State through the Florida Department of Education’s
Interim Assessment Item
Bank and Test Platform.
Duval County Public Schools is enthusiastic about its role in the Project and welcomes Florida teachers, school districts,
universities, and curriculum organizations to partner with us in constructing assessments that
are grounded in the Florida Next Generation Sunshine
State Standards (NGSSS) for World Languages. The Standards emphasize
building students' linguistic and cultural
competence by focusing instructional practices on
five modes of communication as well as
intercultural concepts. This dual emphasis in the
Standards places a premium on student performance.
Applications for Phase 2
being accepted now!
Project Proficere invites teachers throughout
Florida to participate in one or more phases of
developing high-quality assessments for World
Languages.
