International Baccalaureate (PYP)  

Start the path to EXCELLENCE with Richard L. Brown Elementary! Richard L. Brown is the only elementary school in North Florida to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP). This program develops the individual talents of students through intellectual rigor and high academic standards with an emphasis on the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship. The program is delivered through inquiry-based instruction coupled with challenging summative assessments .The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program teaches children how to "relate the experience of the classroom to the realities of the world outside." In keeping with the focus of PYP, students also begin learning a second language. All students receive instruction from full-time specialist in Spanish, Art, Music, Project EDGE, and Physical Education. Richard L. Brown students receive program continuity to James Weldon Johnson Middle School, Darnell-Cookman Middle School, or Paxon Middle School.
