Why a 25-Book Campaign?
Students need to read about one million words a year in order to develop sufficient vocabulary to continually improve their reading proficiency (Nagy and Herman, 1987). In order to achieve those one million words, students need to spend 25 minutes a day reading at a rate of 200 words per minute for 200 days out of a year (Irvin, 1990).

At the end of each grading period, teachers will post student’s progress with the number of books read. The media center will provide reading celebrations and prize drawings to acknowledge students’ achievements who read the required number of books at the end of each marking period.

Students are required to wear Student IDs daily. Replacement cost is $5.00.

Our annual cookie dough fundraiser starts on Sept. 9th. All monies from the sale of the cookie dough will be used to fund programs & events that directly benefit our students at Ribault.
