Volunteers, DADS, PTA and SAC

R.V. Daniels is excited to have volunteers contribute time, talents, and resources to make sure that all students have the best educational experiences and opportunities that are essential for lifelong learning and success!

Now is the time to become involved in your child’s school.  There’s something for everyone to do. Volunteering your time, your talent or  your resources are appreciated by Daniels' administration, teachers, fellow parents, our community and our students!

Parents are encouraged to volunteer in any capacity and are encouraged to join Dads at Daniels, Parent/Teacher Association, and the School Advisory Committee. It is never too late to join any of these volunteer organization.

Volunteer Information

If you want to volunteer, please make sure you have completed a volunteer application. If you've already completed the application and it has been processed, make sure you have your volunteer card.  If you are unsure of your volunteer status, please contact the school at 630-6870 and ask for Suzette Wilcox, our Volunteer Coordinator. 


Dads At Daniels [DADS]

Dads at Daniels is a great way for any Dad, Uncle, Granddad or 'male' mentor to become involved with making a positive impact on Daniels' students. Membership is open to any 'Dad' who wants to work. Our activities are fun and provide a chance for Dads to get to know each other and learn more about all of the wonderful activities taking place at Daniels. Activities that DADS have assisted with during the 2010/2011 academic year include Literacy Night, Campus Clean Up, and Talent Night. And, we are always ready to assist when needed.

Parent/Teacher Association [PTA]

The purpose of the PTA is to create an opportunity for parents and teachers  from Daniels and Tolbert to collaborate on school projects and activities that all aim to enhance the educational experiences of our students. With 237 members during the 2010/2011 academic year, the PTA has been successful in supporting the following activities:
-  Hosted PTA Introduction / Open House at Daniels and Tolbert with @ 200 people at both event
Sponsored Fall school dances at each school for more than 200 students, parents & volunteers
Participated in various family nights events for both of the schools
-  Purchased umbrellas for both schools to assist with rainy days
-  Sponsored breakfast for 40 Daniels' teachers since they achieved 100% PTA membership first
-  Made financial contributions to each school
-  Donated video obtained from Jacksonville Historical Society to each school's library to commemorate Black History
-  Sponsored motivational talks by Jacksonville Giants delivered to 380 students at Tolbert
-  Assisting with Spring Carnival to serve @ 800- 1000 people; the Cultural Event at Daniels; and FCAT Prep at Tolbert

 School Advisory Committee (SAC)

The School Advisory Committee is charged with reviewing the School Improvement Plan, assisting with completing the SIP mid-year review, submitting educational improvement proposals, reviewing school's annual budget, and supporting other school activities specifically designed to increase students' literacy. SAC is composed of the Principal, teacher representatives, parent representatives, a business representative, and a non-instructional staff member to foster an atmosphere for diverse perspectives and views!
