Mrs. Hutchman and Mr. Monlezun are recent volunteers of the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol (BSTP).  The BSTP is a small group of volunteers that patrol the beaches of Duval County looking for signs of sea turtle nesting.  The season starts in May when the turtles start to come to the beaches to lay eggs and goes through October when the last hatchlings should have emerged from their nests.  Click HERE to find out more about the BSTP and how you can get involved.

For those wondering about why the eggs are being dug up;  Much of the beaches here are being renourished this summer after the erosion caused by hurricanes last year.  The nests that are in the renourishment area have to be dug up and relocated to an area that will not be renourished.
